According to Bicol mythology, the Oriol is a giant snake with immense strength and has the ability to mimic the voice of a beautiful lady. It can also be depicted as a creature with the upper body of a maiden and the lower body of a snake.  In the epic Ibalon, the Oriol has the ability to make a person forget using its stare, voice, and melody.
