The Mutya ng Saging is widely-known in Philippine mythology as a type of an agimat, or a talisman used to provide luck and protection to those who wield it.

In order to obtain the Mutya ng Saging, one must wait religiously for the first mystical dew to fall from a mature banana tree blossom at midnight and collecting it only with their tongue.

It is said that only a select few people may obtain it since they must keep an eye out for other supernatural beings that either guard it normally or compete for it as well.
