Maria Makiling is a famous myth hailing from Laguna's Mount Makiling. She's known to be a generous diwata that gives gold-turning ginger to the local townsfolk.

Makiling once fell in love with a local huntsman, but after her kindness was abused, she was never seen again. Her only remaining presence is the sound of her voice when she sings deep in the mountains, but when someone attempts to follow the sound of her voice, she immediately vanishes without leaving any trace.
