magwayen
Often misconcepted as the goddess of death in Philippine mythology, Magwayen is the primordial goddess of the sea according to Bisayan mythology. She is often described as a beautiful woman with a magical conch shell that she uses to transform and fight sea monsters. She has a daughter named Lidagat who always accompanies her. It is said that when her only daughter died, she volunteered and assumed the role of ferrying souls to the underworld, hence why she was named as the goddess of that domain too.
