According to the Mythology of the Meranaw, the world is carried by a colossal snake named Lumbong. It is said that whenever there is an earthquake, Lumbong is being pinched by his anonymous crab companion. To stop this, the Meranaw chants “Sobhana Allah!” which translates to “Allah is the greatest!”. 

 

In some variations of the myth, the Lumbong can be perceived as a colossal cow.
