The Busaw is an evil spirit that preys on fresh corpses and mourners. It is believed that if a corpse is left alone in a wake, the Busaw steals the corpse and replaces it with a Banana stem. It is believed that whenever they want to turn someone into another Busaw, they magically transform the corpse that they stole into delicacies that they give to those people. To keep the Busaw away, people light campfires during wakes and bathe their corpses with vinegar and chili.
